    first 600 and 700

Sunday, October 14, 2007, 12:41 AM MST [General]

So today I put up my first 600 and 700 series in one go. Guess something just clicked lol

    X 9/ X 3/ 7/ X X X X XX8  245
    X X X X X X 71 X X 9/9    241
    X X X X X X 8- 8/ 8/ 9/7  228

    That's a 714 series, my first 600 and 700. That's just too cool.

Unfortunately though at work right now things are working up. On one and two the balls are having trouble making it up the ball return. We need to rotate the rod covers a bit. The pit motor on 3 keeps overheating. And the wire for the fingers on the six pin on lane 9 was nice enough to come out during a birthday party today. Woe is me lol...oh well.

    Bowling Party

Sunday, August 26, 2007, 11:45 PM MST [General]

Well today was my companies employee appriciation party at my lanes. That was fun. Got to bowl the entire time, while of course running in the back and fixing pile ups. For some reason lane 4 and 6 are piling up a lot. But for the most part it was a smooth night considering all ten lanes were being used for 5 hours straight. Lost a 4 lb ball today though, broke right in half ^.^ At least it was a cheapy ball, well it's 4 lb, of course it's a cheapy.

So I got a wrist brace for myself and I watched my game come to life. Now all I need is a new ball to complete my game. I have 49 feet of Med-Heavy oil to throw on wood lanes. Although wood is agressive, there isn't much room to pick up that hard break. I normally throw a slow ball with as much rev as I can put on it, from ten to ten. Let the ball do the work, and start to burn up the oil a bit so I can increase my ball speed. This time however I took my approach from two boards to the right. This let me get a better angle on the pocket and take the oil out faster so I can get main shot faster. Worked fairly well, started off with a 184. But when the second game came, I started to hook more into the headpin. Easy enough, move one board over, then I come in soft. Try another board left and put more rev on it, still can't get solid in the pocket. Dropped hard for a 138 game. I then moved back one board right, which is what I should have stayed with. Now my line to the pocket is there, and I shot a 193.

That wrist brace really added some versatility and much needed consistency in my late games. Shot my high game on these lanes with a 207. Could have shot a 227 but I left two easy opens. Just brought my arm to around me and shot outside my target. Oh well. At least I'm not sitting on a 199 anymore.

I've been considering a BVP Mammoth lately. Sounds like a good ball, need a ball to myself. I have two great balls, neither of them have been drilled for my hand. I've just been fortunate to win one that I grew into greatly. That would be the Fusion Hook Monster, which was donated to my bowling alley by the legendary Weber. Can't say his full name, because his first name is "a prohibited word" that's no fair. Anyways, it instantly put my average up 30 pins. Now I am shooting a Brunswick Cuda 3000. Great ball, but just not enough snap for my style. So I'm thinking on Mammoth, although the Demolition Zone I tried out today broke amazing on the strong oil. I might get both ^-^ At least the Mammoth. I can always buy the Demolition from my boss, plug it, and have it redrilled to my liking. Maybe I'll even do that with the Cuda and my Fusion. Not redrill the Fusion, too much history to redrill it. But give both of them a resurfacing. I'll figure it out.

    Bowling this week

Friday, August 24, 2007, 11:17 PM MST [General]

So today I stayed after work and bowled a few games, a few being 12. =D  Figured I might as well right? Gotta be there at 7 for a bowling meeting anyways. Didn't do too bad. Shot a 531 with a0's  189, 173, and a 169. Could have shot a 600 series easy, but I think I forgot to run the oiler twice on lane 5 today. =D Oops lol. So I had to shoot my inside hook which I'm in the process of perfecting on one lane. That left me with a few light 10's, which i'm not good at shooting today apparently, and a split or two. On 6 though I was pretty solid. I've been working on a lot of things lately to get ready for leagues. Finally gotten around my old average at my old house. But bowling wood lanes is a totally different concept all together. So I'm happy for now with about a 175.

Shot about 40 games this week already, and I've been working morning which means I'm on my feet all day, and through the lunch rush. I swear my alley is a reteraunt with lanes slapped on it. We feed half the mine everyday. Ugh. So my left knee is not doing to good. I think I may have strained a tendon, gotta keep off it for a while. But I don't wanna just drop everything I've been working on. I've just gotten myself back together, getting my rev up was annoying. Especially with three small blisters on my thumb. :S

So Monday i shot my high game on these lanes with a 199. I really needed that strike in the tenth, but left it with the 10 standing. Shot a 550 that day. Then my friend's parents came to pick him up here in AZ from WI and I bowled his mom. She shot 83, 111, 196...how I don't know. Her first two games add up to a 194...what the hell? And again that day, I shot a 199 >.< Beginning to hate that score all over again. That time I had X 6 2 in the tenth. Had a 1-3-8-10. Quite an ugly shot, but I already had a good score, I just wanted that 200. So I threw the ball but my elbow shot out on the release and I took out the 3-10. Which I can't pick up for the life of me when it's just the that split. But so close again. I don't know why, I've picked up the 6-7 four times in this house, once in my old house, and just yesterday in that 199 game I picked up the 4-10. The 3-10 should be cake. Whatever i guess.

    Getting better

Sunday, May 6, 2007, 01:52 AM MST [General]

Well, today at work when there was nobody bowling, me and a few people started to bowl. Granted that the lanes were really dry, I was able to pull off a 135 and a 150. These aren't very good for me, but is a great accomplishment considering the new shot I'm taking on. I'm starting on the 13 and throwing out to the ten, whiich is in the process with wood lanes and a sport shot, which leaves me struggling. I'm trying to figure out the proper speed and ball release for my new lanes, but it's getting there. But today, I had to start on the 18 and shoot the 10 to bring it into the pocket, very peculiar. Makes for good fun though.

    Righty or lefty?: Righty

What's your average?: It was about 180, and it was getting better until I moved acrossed the country. Now I'm on wood lanes working on a new shot, at about a 140.

Do you own your own ball?: Fusion Hook Monster, donated to my bowling alley, and won in a drawing with a 133 game. Donated by none other than the legendary Dick Weber himself.

Do you bowl in a league? Which one(s)?: Sadly no, I'm too busy chasing their deadwoods

What's your favorite bowling alley?: Wally's Seymour, WI. But I have to say I'm beginning to like the one's in Morenci, AZ.

How about your LEAST favorite?: Superbowl, Appleton WI.

Do you like bowling with the "cosmic" lights?: I despise them. I've thrown a few 200's in them, but still despise.

How about with music playing?: Good music, something I can Jam to, so it keeps me in a good mood so I stray from frustration which can really screw up my game.

Do you like to order food from the snack bar while you bowl?: The occassional popcorn or pizza, but I always get something to drink. The more hydrated I am the better.

Have you ever made the 7-10 split?: Hopefully someday

Any embarrassing moments happen while you were bowling?: Well, today when I was throwing, lane 4 got all screwy on me. I had a 9/ 8/ and 5 strikes. But I had to go and try to fix the lane that I screwed up. It really tired me out too, messed up my game a lot.

What's the highest game you've ever bowled?: 214

The lowest?: ooo...I've had some low ones. Just a couple of months ago I threw an 85, couldn't pick up the ten pin that day, which I had a lot. I also had 5 splits that game. All open. Only time that's ever happened to me.

Ever walk out while still wearing the bowling shoes?: No

Do you think it's easy to make the 10-pin (7-pin if you're lefthanded)?: Usually. Sometimes I push it too much and it takes it to the gutter. But I usually pick it up.
