Well today was my companies employee appriciation party at my lanes. That was fun. Got to bowl the entire time, while of course running in the back and fixing pile ups. For some reason lane 4 and 6 are piling up a lot. But for the most part it was a smooth night considering all ten lanes were being used for 5 hours straight. Lost a 4 lb ball today though, broke right in half ^.^ At least it was a cheapy ball, well it's 4 lb, of course it's a cheapy.
So I got a wrist brace for myself and I watched my game come to life. Now all I need is a new ball to complete my game. I have 49 feet of Med-Heavy oil to throw on wood lanes. Although wood is agressive, there isn't much room to pick up that hard break. I normally throw a slow ball with as much rev as I can put on it, from ten to ten. Let the ball do the work, and start to burn up the oil a bit so I can increase my ball speed. This time however I took my approach from two boards to the right. This let me get a better angle on the pocket and take the oil out faster so I can get main shot faster. Worked fairly well, started off with a 184. But when the second game came, I started to hook more into the headpin. Easy enough, move one board over, then I come in soft. Try another board left and put more rev on it, still can't get solid in the pocket. Dropped hard for a 138 game. I then moved back one board right, which is what I should have stayed with. Now my line to the pocket is there, and I shot a 193.
That wrist brace really added some versatility and much needed consistency in my late games. Shot my high game on these lanes with a 207. Could have shot a 227 but I left two easy opens. Just brought my arm to around me and shot outside my target. Oh well. At least I'm not sitting on a 199 anymore.
I've been considering a BVP Mammoth lately. Sounds like a good ball, need a ball to myself. I have two great balls, neither of them have been drilled for my hand. I've just been fortunate to win one that I grew into greatly. That would be the Fusion Hook Monster, which was donated to my bowling alley by the legendary Weber. Can't say his full name, because his first name is "a prohibited word" that's no fair. Anyways, it instantly put my average up 30 pins. Now I am shooting a Brunswick Cuda 3000. Great ball, but just not enough snap for my style. So I'm thinking on Mammoth, although the Demolition Zone I tried out today broke amazing on the strong oil. I might get both ^-^ At least the Mammoth. I can always buy the Demolition from my boss, plug it, and have it redrilled to my liking. Maybe I'll even do that with the Cuda and my Fusion. Not redrill the Fusion, too much history to redrill it. But give both of them a resurfacing. I'll figure it out.
